Top 10 Best Laptop for Ableton (REVEALED!)

Ableton Live is a digital audio workstation (DAW) that allows producers to create, produce and perform with electronic music.
Ableton Live software provides users with the ability to record, compose, improvise, and mix audio and MIDI tracks. Live offers an intuitive workspace and a tightly integrated collection of music creation tools for both beginners and seasoned pros.
The Ableton Live software is installed on a laptop or desktop computer which allows users to use the program remotely.
To be able to use Ableton Live, users need a Best Laptop for Ableton with an Intel i5 CPU or higher, 4GB of RAM, 512MB of dedicated video memory, and 4GB of free hard drive space.
Music production requires a powerful laptop with a robust processor to handle audio inputs and audio outputs.
But more than processing power, a laptop with 8GB of RAM and a dedicated graphics card will also improve audio rendering in Ableton Live.
We have tested more than 50 laptops for performance and noise, evaluating them for sound quality, ease of use, battery life, weight, price and warranty.
1. Dell Inspiron 15 3501 15.6 inch FHD i7 Laptop: (Best Laptop for Ableton)
Despite being the least powerful of the 15.6-inch 3- and 4-processor gaming laptops we tested, this Dell model was the fastest to deliver our benchmark scores.
It also offers a bright, sharp display, comfortable keyboard, and good build quality. The glossy screen looks gorgeous, but may be distracting for some (though not for gamers).
The keyboard and trackpad are full-size, but they feel cheaper than the rest of the laptop. The trackpad is responsive, but it’s slightly smaller than the keys, which felt cramped to our test fingers.
The speakers are average, but they benefit from the laptop’s DirectSound3D audio software, which is powered by Dolby Atmos. Dell includes a one-year limited warranty with the Inspiron 15 3501 i7.
2. 2022 Newest HP 14″ HD Laptop Light:
The HP 14-ay004tu is a great option for inexpensive laptop use. It has a bright and colorful 1366 x 768 resolution screen, good overall performance, and the battery life of a laptop of this size.
It’s a fast machine, but with no discrete graphics, it isn’t really suited to be a serious gaming rig, and fans of discrete graphics may want to look elsewhere.
For students, there’s a decent-sized trackpad, and speakers that sound pretty good for a laptop of this size.
This laptop is one of the least expensive laptops we tested with built-in Bluetooth 5, which is a huge bonus for students, parents, and others with Bluetooth-enabled devices.
Also, the included one-year subscription to Office 365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, makes this an excellent option for those who want some productivity on the go.
3. 2022 Newest HP Pavilion 15.6″ FHD 1080P IPS Laptop:
This HP Pavilion 15.6″ laptop is a good choice for gaming, and its Ryzen processor offers better performance than Intel alternatives. It also has lots of ports and upgraded storage, but it’s heavier and bigger than other choices.
The HP Pavilion 15.6 inch FHD 1080P IPS Laptop is one of the most powerful laptops we’ve ever tested, with dozens of standard features, a long battery life, and a cool color.
Its display is beautiful, its slim bezels make gaming feel immersive, and its speakers sound great. But it’s also a bit on the heavy side, and its webcam, speakers, and microphone are sub-par.
We liked the HP Pavilion 15.6 inch FHD 1080P IPS Laptop, yet it missed the top slot because of its mediocre webcam, speaker quality, and microphone, and its subpar battery life and webcam also stopped it from reaching our top pick.
Still, it’s a solid choice for anyone looking for a powerful laptop for gaming, streaming, creativity, or video chatting.
4. MSI GF63 Thin 15.6″ FHD Gaming Laptop:
The MSI GS63 Thin 15.6″ FHD Gaming Laptop offers a great gaming experience, impressive battery life, and a good selection of ports.
The speakers, which are located on the laptop’s underside, are surprisingly good, especially considering their small size.
The laptop’s thin bezels (in a standard 16:9 aspect ratio) provided deep, rich colors in our tests, and even better color reproduction when paired with a higher-end display, such as our top pick.
The webcam performed well in our tests, and our test footage looked sharp and clear, but if you’re expecting broadcast-quality video, look elsewhere; the 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate mean it’s best suited for video chats and basic recording.
The Intel i5-10300H processor and the GTX 1650 card are more than enough for running modern games, and the laptop’s 512GB SSD allows for truly speedy boot times; it takes just a few seconds to boot up the laptop and start playing games.
The keyboard and trackpad were responsive, and we liked that MSI included a free 500GB external hard drive in the bundle.
The battery life was seriously impressive during testing, and the touchpad was responsive, but it’s a shame that the speakers couldn’t be relocated to the top of the laptop, as they’re placed in a tiny, easy-to-miss chamber beneath the laptop’s palm rest.
The MSI GS63 Thin 15.6″ FHD Gaming Laptop is a great first gaming laptop, but its high price will deter some shoppers, and the track pad could be more responsive.
5. Lenovo IdeaPad 3 11 Chromebook Laptop:
Encased in a durable, lightweight aluminum chassis, the IdeaPad 3 11 Chromebook Laptop is very thin and weighs only 2.3 pounds.
While it’s not quite as compact as the Acer Chromebook Spin 11, it’s comparable in overall footprint.
The keyboard is full-size with decent tactile feedback and adequate key travel, although some of the keys seem a little too high for my taste. The 11.6-inch HD display delivers a crisp, clear picture.
The resolution is adequate for streaming video, browsing, and casual gaming. The audio is decent through the built-in speakers, but sound quality suffers when you put the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 11 Chromebook Laptop on an external monitor or TV.
With 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 11 Chromebook Laptop handles most common tasks quickly. The built-in fingerprint reader is fast and accurate, however, there’s no dedicated camera for video chat.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 11 Chromebook Laptop is a solid choice for an affordable Chromebook laptop, especially if you’re not a Chromehead and want a fairly light, travel-friendly model.
6. ASUS Laptop L210 11.6” ultra thin:
This laptop is thin (0.7 inches at its thickest point) and light (2.2 pounds), which makes it ideal for traveling or carrying around in a briefcase or backpack.
The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU may not be powerful enough to play your games at the highest settings, but it’s adequate for basic web browsing, streaming, and watching videos.
The 11.6-inch display offers 1366 by 768 resolution, which is standard for this class, and it’s bright enough to watch outdoors.
The viewing angles are wide enough that you can watch presentations from different angles, or with a friend’s laptop, and there’s a webcam for Skype calls.
The keyboard is solidly constructed and backlit, and the interface is easy to navigate. This model is an excellent value at $249, and it’s the only laptop in our guide with a 1-year Microsoft Office 365 Personal subscription.
7. Acer Aspire Vero AV15-51-75QQ Green PC:
The machine has near-bezel-less bezels, and while those make the display look even more expansive, they make it harder for content creators to nail-keying upscaling to 4K.
The IPS panel is excellent, though, with great color and contrast. The 60Hz refresh rate is disappointing, but the lack of an HDMI port may be mitigated by the dataport on the left-hand attachment point.
The “workstation” aspects of this machine aren’t as useful as we’d like. The included set of wired and wireless mice and keyboard are decent, but there are no ports other than HDMI to connect, so you can’t attach an external monitor.
Battery life is good, but isn’t really promising for constant, extended use. The webcam and microphone are blocked by the thin bezel.
Driver installation is a bit of a hassle, though. In any case, if this is your first Windows laptop, and you appreciate the green angle, this is a good value.
8. 2021 Newest Acer Aspire 5 15.6″ FHD 1080P Laptop Computer:
This Acer Aspire 5 laptop (Model: AS5-791) is one of the better choices for those who want an affordable laptop with a 1080p screen, Windows 10, and decent performance, but there are plenty of other options.
This 15.6-inch laptop has a 1080p display, 1TB hard drive, 8GB of memory, and a 256GB solid-state drive. It also has Bluetooth and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
The computer is primarily designed for work, and it has a dedicated microphone and headphone/microphone combo port and a 720p webcam.
The laptop is backlit, which is nice, and the keys are responsive. But the computer is slow–just below our recommended speed for Windows 10 machines.
The Acer laptop is also heavy, weighing 4.2 pounds. The 15.6-inch screen has wide viewing angles and is bright, but it’s small by today’s standards.
Bottom line:
If you want a capable laptop that can handle office tasks, the Acer 5 is a decent choice, but we’d recommend checking out the competition.
9. Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16″ 165Hz QHD IPS Gaming Laptop:
While its display and graphics are among the best you can find, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro isn’t the fastest or most powerful gaming laptop on our best gaming laptop 2023 list.
With 16GB of RAM and a speedy 2TB SSD, the Legion 5 Pro is capable of handling demanding games and multimedia tasks.
With a 2.2-GHz quad-core AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor and 8GB of RAM, the Legion 5 Pro is one of the fastest gaming laptops you can buy, thanks to its decent gaming frame rates and improved refresh rate.
The Legion 5 Pro’s display is also among the top we’ve seen for gaming laptops, with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 1080p resolution, and an impressive 165Hz refresh rate.
The Legion 5 Pro’s battery life is average for gaming laptops, at 3 hours 15 minutes and 46% battery life after a full charge and heavy use.
The laptop’s keyboard is cramped, with keys positioned close together, and its trackpad is of average quality.
The Legion 5 Pro is also a bit heavier than some competitors, weighing 4.84 pounds, which is 27% more than most other gaming laptops.
10. Acer Aspire 5 A515-46-R3UB:
The Acer Aspire 5’s combination of powerful specs, good battery life, and impressive audio and graphics make it a great choice for budget-conscious PC gamers.
It would have been an even better choice if it had an HDMI 2.0 port, but that’s a low bar to clear, and Acer’s standard HDMI 2.0 cable worked just fine.
The included webcam is passable for video calls, but its microphone is average.
The Acer Aspire 5 is a great budget-conscious choice for PC gamers. It has powerful specs, good battery life, and impressive audio and graphics.
The Display Port and HDMI ports allow you to connect two external displays, and the display quality is really nice.
The Acer Aspire 5’s size and weight make it really easy to carry around.
